Hi I'm Nicki.
A nerd from Nottingham, UK
I am a self obessed nerd, IT Professional and home labber dabbling in virtualisation, home automation, Microsoft Azure, AWS and everything IT related.
I am currently an IT Manager for an international company running procurement, budgeting, the external MSP amongst other responsibilities.
My main skills and interests include Cyber Security, Microsoft cloud services such as Intune/Entra/Purview, Linux self hosting, Docker and my fully fledged home lab running from a comms cabinet in my living room.
Anything technology interests me and the more open source the better.

// WHAT I DO?
Virtualisation, Microsoft Intune/Entra, AWS, Scripting, Cyber Security, Procurement.....
Virtualisation
VMWare ESXi, Proxmox, UNRAID, TRUENAS...
Over the years I have used and learned many different types of hypervisors ranging from MIcrosoft Hyper-V to enterprise level VWMare ESXi.
Virtualisation is the backbone of my homelab using Proxmox over a cluster of nodes of Dell Optiplex MMF devices.
Microsoft Intune/Entra
Microsoft EntraID and Endpoint Manager have been the staple of my development over the past couple of years.
From decommissioning domain controllers and migrating to a fully cloud model and setting up Microsoft Autopilot/Platform SSO (MacOS) to patching CVE's and app deployments, this has always been my bread and butter.
Ubiquiti Networking
While my enterprise networking i.e., Cisco is pretty much basic, I took it upon myself to learn and daily drive Ubiquiti not only at work but also at home for my home network.
Unifi is so powerful and user friendly it was easy to pick up and deploying in an enterprise envrionment alongside Unifi Network, Protect and Identity alongside sercurity practice was enjoyable and easy.
Linux
While I may not have used Linux in the enterprise or business space very much, it is pretty much the back bone of my home network running all my docker containers, monitoring and production servers.
My favourite flavour of Linux is Ubuntu Server and all my services run on this including Pi-Hole DNS, Plex, Guacamole, Mealie and Home Assistant. These are spread over 2 Proxmox nodes.
